The Rangitoto Island Bach Community Association (RIBCA) represents the families who have baches on Rangitoto Island.
RIBCA's purpose is:
| (a) | To provide a society for the Rangitoto Island Bach Community to work in partnership with the Crown towards a strategy for the maintenance, preservation, restoration and enhancement of Rangitoto Island and its bach community, for the benefit of the island, its community and the wider public |
| (b) | To provide a society to carry out projects in consultation with the Department of Conservation |
Many RIBCA families have had an association with Rangitoto for almost 100 years. Up to six generations of some families have used the family bach and are still using it.
Over that time a strong and unique community spirit has developed.
Therefore, as you can imagine, we are all very passionate about Rangitoto and her baches.
